Portland-based Chromatics encompasses a dreamy, acid-infused sound that seemingly marries with fashion in an effortlessly elegant way. As of late you may have heard Ruth Radelet’s smoky voice accompanying models down various catwalks across various shows in various cities. The driving beats, the romanticism, and the retro-futuristic vibe works perfectly on the runway.
As well as being the soundtrack to Phillip Lim’s show in September, Kaiser Karl also asked the band to soundtrack Chanel’s SS’13 presentation. Unsurprisingly, the quartet relished this unique gigging opportunity to bring along their visual collaborator, Alberto Rossini, to document the whole thing for their new video.
The result of this collaboration is the group’s official video for “Looking For Love”. Not just a showcase of the band’s luscious song, the handheld, 8mm-style film is a raw, true-to-life look at what occurs behind the scenes at the Grand Palais during one of fashion’s most highly anticipated shows.
